Activities in the Area
The joint cities of Le Luc and Le Cannet des Maures are the closest of some importance and the handiest to find whatever would not be available in Le Thoronet - Verdon Valley - St Tropez (Chemist, general store, supermarket...). Also in the neighbourhood : Carcès , Lorgues , Chez Bruno , Flayosc , Vidauban , Entrecasteaux, Cotignac , Cabasse, Taradeau, Les Arcs , Draguignan , all have something for you. The closest train station is in "Les Arcs" around 25 km, 30 mn from the house (watch out for the jam in Vidauban, though). This station is the main stop for TGV in Centre-Var. (French railways) You could also take an old train through Centre-Var, from Carnoules to Brignoles . This typical commuter train is being kept in service order by a group of railway lovers. The area is mostly rural, wine growing is the dominant activity; many wine cellars can be visited (booking is sometimes required). Rosé wine is best known, but some reds are worth it as well. Several associations propose donkey rides : for instance Anabelle and AiDeiCoualo.
