Activities in the Area
The "HEARTLAND TRAIL" Biking & Hiking Trail is 1/2 Mile from the cottage. This trail is one of Minnesota's finest, there are approx. 30 miles of trail completely paved. From the cottage you can bike or hike to Akeley and Walker or you can go the opposite diection toward Nevis and Park Rapids. Bring your own Bikes. Storage space available. Bike Rentals also available in town. CANOEING....Enjoy early morning or early evening canoeing when the lake is like glass. Canoe through the river channels connecting to the 9th and 8th Crow Wing Lakes...OR have a "Wilderness Adventure" down the Crow Wing and Shell River, canoe rentals and trips available through HUNTERSVILLE CANOE OUTFITTERS. They will drop you off and pick you up at a designated site. Pack a lunch and take a two,four or six hour day trip, swim and picnic along the way. An easy trip even for the beginner, no white water. This is will be an adventure to remember.
