Elmo's Rest is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, at the foot of the Peaks of Otter. In the early 1900's, Elmo Johnson and his wife Freddie lived and raised their family in the house. They planted their first apple tree in 1919. The secluded home is in the middle of 250 acres of orchards, lush pastures, and shady woods. It is located a 1/2 mile from the nearest dwelling. It is surrounded by the animals that you would expect to find on a self-sufficient farm of that era. Animals include cattle, horses, burros, dogs, cats, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and turkeys.




From the first blossom of Spring, to creek wading in Summer, to the last crisp apple of Fall, to the snow-covered hills of Winter, there is a time for you to relax or be active. The property boasts 3 ponds for fishing, creeks for wading.
