Kapoho: A Touch of Old Hawaii, and the sunniest spot on the East side of the Big Island! This totally private, large first-floor studio apartment, located below our
residence, is a short 800 feet from the ocean and from some of the best snorkeling in the Islands. The small community of Kapoho is the sunniest spot on the windward side. It is so peaceful,lush and tropical here.... the perfect place to really get away from it all. You'll be staying in lovely tropical surroundings with your own private entrance: a big, airy and bright space set into a garden, featuring a lot of interesting native trees, and plants along with the usual gently-swaying coconut palms. Wake to the sounds of the tropical birds outside your window. You'll have a queen bed; a queen sleeper sofa; a fully-equipped kitchen with stove, oven, microwave and everything else you'll need. There's a screened lanai where you can spend some time with a good book or just enjoy the
relaxing, peaceful sounds of the ocean. There's also an extension phone for local calls(bring calling card for long
distance), a TV/VCR, nice stereo system, and an assortment of books and audio and video titles for your enjoyment. Instead of white sandy beaches you will find beautiful, crystal-clear tide pools with multi-colored coral and amazing tropical fish. There's a reef way out in the ocean on which the big waves break, so the water in the snorkeling areas is usually lake-smooth and serenely calm. We are about a 35-minute drive from Hilo,less than an hours drive from Volcanoes National Park. and 2 1/2 hours away from Kailua-Kona. If you're planning on a relaxing time and spending most of it here in the beautiful Puna Area, you couldn't find a better place to stay!
