Situated in a secluded nineteenth-century ‘sotoportego’ (narrow street) between two canals, this house on two floors is a flexible, convenient, calm base for your self-catering holiday in the historic centre of Venice. Walk to the end of the street and you are on the wonderful canal pictured on the right; walk to the other end and you may see the moored gondola depicted below! The house sleeps up to five people. Full details of the sleeping arrangements are on our colourful and useful web site: www.visitvenice.co.uk. (Wherever you plan to stay in Venice, you will find our site very useful as it links through to the best maps and tourist sites for Venice.)
We have equipped the house to help visitors enjoy the dazzling art and architecture and marvellous fresh food Venice has to offer. After a day walking around Venice you can leaf through our selection of books about the city, including guides, walks, some hefty art books, and recipe books.
With the well-equipped, fitted kitchen (it has a double sink, fridge, freezer, gas hob, grill and microwave - see the picture below) you can make the most of the fish and vegetable markets just around the corner, and the cornucopian markets near the Rialto bridge.
There is a folder of tips about shops, restaurants and travel in Venice; we shall welcome your own findings to add to it.
There are also some other little touches to make life comfortable and easy in Venice: a washing machine, clothes lines, an iron and ironing board, a big English/Italian dictionary and a range of wellies!
